The Air is Changing

It isn't just because the calendar now says September. Subtle changes are occuring each day. The air smells different; lighter, crisper. The edges of the leaves have begun to slightly curl as hints of yellow add dimension to the trees. There is pep in many a step as I take notice of the people around me. I think we all know what this means.

Autumn is just about here. To many this is the best of the seasons. In the past, it's been my least favorite. You see, I've never given autumn a chance because to me it's just the beginning of winter, and winter and I have never been friends.

This year I've decided to change my relationship with the crisp season. I plan to admire the colors, breathe deeply, and perhaps even get a little more pep in my step, though for the record, I do consider myself pretty darn peppy...in one of those dark and twisted peppy kind of ways.

I vow to utilize my camera to capture the beautiful scenery around me. I vow to step outside, mug of joe in hand, and take a close look at what the world has to offer. And, of course, I vow to find cool outfits to wear with my favoite boots!

I leave you with this beautiful photo I found online. Picture yourself there and tell me where this path leads...

  1. Enjoy autumn. It's my favorite season - for the colors. There's something about that season that seems more reflective than the other seasons, which all seem expressive. So that's where this picture leads me... to self-reflection--and hopefully--more self-discovery. :)

  2. There is no question, autumn is the very best of seasons here in Wisconsin. I couldn't live without it. A stroll through any woodlot in the fall will convince any naysayer.

  3. Berinn,

Self-discovery can be frightening, but then again, you and I went ghost hunting. We're very brave! And you have just the right boots for fall. Not everyone can claim to own a pair of zombie stompers. Here zombie, zombie...

  4. Hi Wayne!

Big waves to you. I promise to stroll this fall and it won't be in a mall. I'm more than ready to be convinced. You may have to help me with winter, though!

  5. What a lovely photo, Elle. I think that little byway leads to a lovely log cabin on a lake, where a couple has retired to after many years of hectic work lives and busy family schedules. Fall is the time they can walk in the leaves without the bugs bothering them and enjoy each other. Mary Jo

  6. I love where that path led you, Mary Jo. I'll take that cabin now and enjoy it even before I'm retired!
