The Fork

Which path do you choose? How is one to know? What if you choose the wrong one? Can you ever get back to this exact spot? Can you ever stand before this particular fork again, stare it in the eye and vow to get it right this time?

Leap of faith, right? Seek advice perhaps? Ultimately you can't hold anyone accountable but yourself, for your feet are attached to those legs that bend and stretch and propel you forward.

So here I am. Standing at the fork and tapping my foot to a beat only I can hear. I can't say for certain whether I enjoy the tune or not. Too much confusion has my core rooted, a bit afraid to take even one tiny step. I am afraid to miss something, miss an opportunity, miss THE opportunity. So here I am still, tapping my foot and sweating. I feel it trickling down my spine like a faucet with a perpetual leak.

I will move. I promise I will. I just need to take a bit more time to consider my options. A bit more time to chew my nails to the quick. I will move. I promise I will.

  1. Whichever fork you take will lead to opportunity. It's what you do with it that counts. Even the "wrong" fork can lead to something good.

    Good Luck, V.

  2. Take the right fork, which may be the left fork. Just as long as it's not the wrong fork (which may be a salad fork)

Best of luck with your decision,

  3. Ah honey, just jump. Either road will be the right path...maybe not the road you want...but necessary to get where you are headed anyway. I believe that everything happens for a reason. The road is not the problem...it's how you navigate the road that matters. Fate doesn't wait for your choices. Go with your gut and when that fails listen to your heart. You'll be fine.

  5. Elle,

That's my motto: Analyze what you know and then go with your gut. When I've not listened--I regretted it.

  6. Make that decision with confidence, knowing that when you look back one year from today, you'll see that you made the right decision.

  9. You know what, Rachel? I'm jumping and I won't even hold my nose when I do it.

  10. Casey,

The gut knows, doesn't it? Sometimes I just have to listen.

  11. Confidence is definitely the key, Berinn. If I'm going to mess up, I may as well make a HUGE mess!
